Inspired by the Islamic State’s destruction of ancient artifacts and monuments in Iraq, a madcap preacher in Kuwait has called for the demolition of Egypt’s pyramids and Sphinx to end the "worship of such pagan constructions."
Quoted by Kuwaiti daily newspaper Al-Watan (reported by the IBT), Ibrahim Al Kandari said the Giza structures should be “destroyed,” adding just because generations of Muslims have decided not to obliterate the ancient monuments “doesn’t mean they shouldn’t”.

According to the newspaper, Al Kandari said: "The fact that early Muslims who were among prophet Mohammed's followers did not destroy the pharaohs' monuments upon entering the Egyptian soil, does not mean that we shouldn't do it now."
Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has sanctioned the destruction of all non-Muslim religious monuments, leading to the tragic demolition of ancient objects in buildings in Mosul and Assyrian city of Nimrud.
