Celine Dion broke down in tears during a recent interview, where she discussed her husband René Angélil’s battle with throat cancer.
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer took a year out from her career to care for her husband, who also acts as her manager, after he was diagnosed with cancer for the second time last year.
During the emotional interview, Celine revealed that his illness has left him unable to eat without the aid of a feeding tube, telling ABC News: “He can’t eat so I have to feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day.”
“We are taking life one day at a time, [but] we are choosing to live.”
Celine announced recently that she would be returning to work, and resuming her residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas with a whole new show in the summer.
She and her husband have been together since 1987, eventually tying the knot seven years after getting together.
Together, they have three sons, 14-year-old René-Charles and four-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson, who are named after songwriter Eddy Marnay and Nelson Mandela.
She also claims during the interview that their sons’ support has helped René through his battle with throat cancer.
The interview will air on Wednesday during ‘Good Morning America’, as well as in Wednesday night’s ‘Nightline’.
