Last month it was announced that Dan had been suspended from the show, while producers investigated claims he had threatened his ex-girlfriend.

This came after The Sun obtained a leaked recording, allegedly containing violent threats made by Dan towards Megan Tomlin, the mother of his one-year-old son, Teddy.

A spokesperson for ITVBe has now confirmed: “Dan was suspended during the last series of TOWIE, and Lime Pictures and ITV have since decided he will not be returning to the show. We wish him luck in the future.”

Following the backlash that faced Dan after the leaked footage was made public, his current girlfriend, ‘EastEnders’ actress Jacqueline Jossa, has leapt to his defence on Twitter, insisting: “He is a brilliant father, above all else, I just want to clear up, he has never once been violent or even shown signs towards me at all.

“People selling stories on him, show one side to a story, but people around Dan know the whole truth, and you would all be shocked.

“I am 100 percent not saying what Daniel has said was right or okay, but people make mistakes when in dark places, and it's something we sorted out privately not in front of the whole world, it's something he has apologised for and is embarrassed about.”

Earlier this year, Jacqueline and Dan became parents to his second child and her first, a baby girl named Ella.

He is currently on tour with the Dreamboys, which marks his second time dancing with the stripping troupe.
