The new space for LFW shows will be the Brewer Street car park, and the Spring/Summer 2016 collections will be the first to show there in September.

According to the Metro, the new central London location "fulfils the British Fashion Council's goal to host London Fashion Week in the West End, providing an epicentre for a city-wide fashion celebration with close proximity to major retail spaces."

Somerset House bid farewell to LFW on Twitter on Monday after the announcement writing, "A fond farewell to London Fashion Week, it was a pleasure being your home for 6 years."

Brewer Street car park is an iconic art deco building designed by architect JJ Joass, dating back to 1929.

Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, said of the move, "The long term growth of the UK's designer fashion market is reflected geographically in this move that will see London Fashion Week designers showcasing collections in one of London's most vibrant, diverse and creative hubs set within a mile of Bond Street, Dover Street, Mount Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street.

"The new and exciting venue has already been dubbed as Brewer Street's 'Fashion Park' and will offer freedom and flexibility to designers who will be able to transform the show space to reflect their own aesthetics and identity."

The Brewer Street car park has been used for fashion shows before, with Henry Holland holding is House of Holland SS14 show at the venue (pictured top).

It's a sad farewell to Somerset House, but we're excited about the new car park chic.
