‘Coronation Street' Spoiler: Chris Gascoyne Reveals Details Of Anne Kirkbride Tribute Episodes

'Corrie' Star Reveals Details Of Anne Kirkbride Farewell Episodes

‘Coronation Street’ star Chris Gascoyne has shared his thoughts, ahead of the soap’s farewell to Deidre Barlow, who was played by the late Anne Kirkbride.

‘Corrie’ bosses have worked with Anne’s family to create a suitable send-off for the actress’s on-screen alter-ego, and now Chris has revealed his hopes for the episodes.

During an interview on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show, Chris explained that the episodes should bring “closure” for the cast, adding: “It's just for a few episodes but it's all about Deirdre and the way it's affected Peter, Tracy and Ken and, you know, hopefully we can do Annie proud."

Chris left ‘Corrie’ months ago, however, he will be returning as Peter Barlow to bid farewell to his on-screen mum.

Anne Kirkbride

Anne’s castmates haven’t had a chance to formally say goodbye to the star, as her funeral was a private affair, attended solely by family, and just a few of Anne’s co-stars and close friends.

Thousands of fans paid tribute to Anne following her death and, in April, she was awarded a posthumous British Soap Award nomination, for Deidre’s infamous - and fabulous - trifle-throwing scene.
