Ricky Martin has opened up about how being a father to his twin boys meant he had to shift his priorities.
The 43-year-old singer became a dad to Valentino and Matteo, now both six, by surrogate in 2008, while in a relationship with stockbroker Carlos Gonzalez.
However Martin and Gonzalez split in January last year, after five years together, and since then Martin admits he has put finding a relationship on hold, while he concentrates on his sons.
In an interview with The Sun, Martin said: “The first year as a single father with twins was insanity.
"I had eye bags down to my knees but it was the most beautiful year of my life."
He insisted that now, his boys will always come first although it did take a bit of getting used to.
“My kids travel with me everywhere. When I made the decision to bring my kids into this world, I made a strategy for how it was going to work. It’s flowing beautifully," he said in the interview.
Martin says he is "fine" with being single because he meets "very handsome men", although he was quick to add that having two children has meant he can't bring them back to his house.
Martin also said in the interview that he and Gonzalez have managed to work things out with the children and Gonzalez still sees his boys.
Earlier this year, he also told KISS FM he was happy with his relationship status: "I am single. I'm in a really good place right now.
"I was in a relationship for ages and I guess this is where I need to be right now in this moment."
He went on to say that he wanted a bigger family in the future though: "Children are just amazing".
The singer has previously talked about how he approached addressing his sexuality with his children.
In an interview on radio station Univision MIX 98.3 Martin said that when his son asked: “Dad, was I in your belly?" He told him: "You were in my heart and you are still in my heart".
He added: “I explained further, because I couldn’t just leave it at that: ‘There was a woman that I adore with all my heart that helped me bring you into this world. She lent me her belly so that you could come and when you were born she put you in my arms.’
"And he said ‘ah, ok’ and he kept playing."
Now that is seriously cute.
