England's 2015 Rugby World Campaign Goes From Bad To Worse

England's World Cup hopes have taken a further knock with the arrest of one of their star players.

Fly-half Danny Cipriani has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following an early morning car crash.

The Sale Sharks player, 27, was unhurt in a collision between his Mercedes and a Toyota in Chelsea, west London, shortly after 5am yesterday.

He was given a breath test and taken to a west London police station before being released on bail.

Danny Cipriani was arrested following a crash in the early hours of this morning

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 5.15am on Monday, 1 June to reports of two cars in collision in Imperial Road, SW6.

"No reports of any injuries.

"The cars involved were a silver Toyota Prius and a black Mercedes C63.

"The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

"He was taken to a west London police station where he was later released on police bail. Return date to be confirmed."

In 2013 the star suffered concussion after being hit by a bus while on a night out with team-mates.

Cipriani, who once dated model Kelly Brook, is hopeful for a place in the England team for this year's Rugby World Cup after impressing this weekend in a match against the Barbarians.

But there are fears that his arrest could jeopardise such a place.

Cipriani is the latest in a string of England stars to get into trouble.

Centre Manu Tuilagi will not play for England in the tournament thanks to a conviction for assaulting two female police officers and a taxi driver, according to Sky Sports.

Hooker Dylan Hartley has also been dropped from the team’s training squad after he was handed a four-week ban for head-butting another player.

Fans today expressed their frustration at the news about Cipriani...
