Times are hard for One Direction fans. After the departure of Zayn Malik in March, rumours have been sprouting up all over the internet about his whereabouts.
First he was allegedly busy cheating on fiancé Perrie Edwards in Thailand, then he was making a solo comeback with producer Naughty Boy, and now, according to Twitter -- Zayn is coming back to One Direction.
Overnight, the hashtag #WelcomeBackTo1DZayn popped up, and by this morning it was trending worldwide.
While there's absolutely nothing official to suggest that there is any fact behind this rumour, it hasn't stopped One Direction fandom going into a Twitter frenzy.
Apparently, it all started with this tweet from a determined Brazillian Directioner, who appeared to have some kind of epiphany and decided to stir up a Twitter storm.
A couple of hours later, Twitter had gone into overdrive and some of the responses were what can only be described as genius.
Mostly, they were heart-broken...
Some of them were really angry...
There was a bizarrely biblical undertone...
But the overarching sentiment was...
The One Direction fan that started the trending tag has since tweeted (in Portuguese...) that she may have been trolled.
