A woman who underwent a double mastectomy after suffering breast cancer has a strong message for the people who created the #HoldACokeWithYourBoobsChallenge.
For those who missed the latest internet craze which essentially proved that the world has gone bonkers, the #HoldACokeWithYourBoobChallenge was initially created to encourage women to hold a can of Coke in between their breasts. *Groans*
But later evolved into a social media campaign with the pretence of raising awareness surrounding breast cancer.
The hashtag was thought up by Danny Frost, who said that his company - an adult entertainment firm - started the trend as a "joke" but then kept the ball rolling once people began to share it in the belief that it was for a breast cancer charity.
Which, of course, it wasn't.
Aimee Fletcher, 32, who was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and has also recently been diagnosed with bone metastases, told BuzzFeed News that "breast cancer is not fun and sexy" like the #HoldACokeWithYourBoobChallenge makes it out to be.
"The treatment is gruelling," she said. "It’s not glamorous and why people decide to take photos of the part of the body that breast cancer destroys is beyond me."
The 32-year-old from Tamworth first came across the hashtag on the same day that she attended the funeral of a friend who had died from breast cancer.
She revealed that she's "sick" of these "games" that don’t show the reality of cancer.
So she posted her own response to the trend, a photo of her mastectomy scars, which shows the somewhat harsh reality of breast cancer.
The tweet has since been retweeted 117 times and favourited by nearly 200 people.
