Shane Richie Lands New Comedy Role

Shane Richie has landed a role in the upcoming new series of ‘Benidorm’, it has been announced.

The ‘EastEnders’ actor, who is currently taking a temporary break from the BBC soap, was photographed filming in the Spanish holiday destination this week, while wearing an 80s wig and a dodgy leopard print shirt.

A spokesperson for ‘Benidorm’ has confirmed that fans can look forward to Shane putting in an appearance next year, revealing: “There's no more to say right now about the character he is playing or what he gets up to. The only way to find out will be to tune in to ‘Benidorm’ series eight early in 2016.”

In the past few years, a host of famous faces have made guest appearances in ‘Benidorm’, including Cilla Black, Denise Welch, Joan Collins and Sheridan Smith.

During his temporary break from ‘EastEnders’, Shane has also been tipped to be making an appearance on the upcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, alongside fellow rumoured contestants, former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Georgia May Foote and Peter Andre.

He and Jessie Wallace are also filming a spin-off series for the BBC, based on their soap characters, Kat and Alfie Moon.

The ‘EastEnders’ couple recently celebrated winning £1 million on a scratch-card, however their joy was short-lived as Alfie was later told by a doctor that he had a brain tumour.

Kat and Alife left Walford shortly afterwards, with their spin-off series focusing on their time in Ireland, where they’re “searching for answers to some very big questions”.
