Seven Held Over £8.5m Drug Recovery

Seven men have been charged following the recovery of £8.5 million worth of heroin.

Officers recovered 77.5 kilos of the Class A controlled drug after they stopped a number of vehicles on the M6 motorway in Staffordshire on Friday night.

The pre-planned operation was carried out by the North West Regional Crime Unit, Titan and the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Police have now charged seven men who will appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

An eighth man arrested continues to be questioned in custody.

Facing allegations of conspiracy to import heroin are Burack Gurgur, 25, from Stamford Road, London, Ugur Bakac, 29, also of Stamford Road, London, Yasar Kemel Ozekmecki, 28, of Cleveland Road, London, Erwin Lorenz Hendriks, 44, of Nieuucgein, the Netherlands, Robert Miszkjiel, 45, Szczecin, Poland, Tomasz Marcin Dylewski, 32, of Poland, and Jerzy Jacek Banucha, 45, of no fixed abode.
