Fire Crews Battle Warehouse Blaze

Dramatic pictures have emerged of more than 100 firefighters battling a warehouse blaze.

Plumes of thick black smoke could be seen for miles as the flames tore through the two-storey building in west London.

One photograph posted on Twitter showed the smoke rising over the roof of Wembley Stadium.

People have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed to stop toxic fumes getting into their homes.

London Fire Brigade station manager Jeff Lisle said: "Crews are working very hard in difficult conditions.

"Firefighters are using aerial ladder platforms to tackle the fire from numerous vantage points and ensure the blaze doesn't spread to neighbouring warehouses.

"While we are making excellent progress, we expect to work on this fire into the night.

"This isn't a residential area but the smoke is travelling quite a distance so do keep windows and doors shut if you are local."

The fire broke out in Wadsworth Road, Perivale just before 7pm last night.

At least 15 crews from Heston, Northolt, Chiswick, Wembley, Park Royal, Ruislip and Ealing were sent to the scene.

Around 30 people were evacuated from the building and there were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
