Man Arrested Over Pile-Up Deaths

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing the deaths of two women in a multi-vehicle crash.

Staffordshire Police said the victims, one aged in her 20s and the other in her 40s, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the A5.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the women, both from the Market Drayton area of Shropshire, were travelling in a car which overturned near Weston Park.

An ambulance service spokesman said a teenage male travelling in the overturned vehicle suffered serious pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Six other patients received treatment for less serious injuries, including a man aged in his 40s who was taken to hospital in Telford with a shoulder injury.

In a post on its official Twitter account, Staffordshire Police said a man in his 40s from Telford had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
