Tower Bridge and the surrounding area was brought to a standstill on Friday afternoon following a suspicious package alert.
Pictures posted on Twitter showed streets near the iconic London bridge completely deserted.
The Metropolitan Police's Southwark division said: "We are currently dealing with a potential suspect package near #TowerBridge. The bridge is currently closed to vehicles and pedestrians."
Police cars and helicopters were in attendance at the scene.
But not long afterwards, the bridge was reopened to the public.
