Exclusive: Parody Band 'The Iain Duncan Smiths' New Morrissey-Marr Cover Inspired By Government Fake Testimony Row

Exclusive: Parody Smiths Band Trolling Iain Duncan Smith Over His Fake DWP Stories
.

Spoof band The Iain Duncan Smiths has recorded a version of a Smiths classic satirising the Government controversy over faked benefits claimant testimonies..

The recording, What Difference Does It Make (If All Our Testimonies Are Fake)?, is inspired by the Department for Work and Pensions admitting that claimants comments used in an official benefit sanctions leaflet were fabricated.

Lyrics include "the DWP will find work for idle sods like you" and "so I'll still lie to you, oh ho ho!".

The Department for Work and Pensions admitted "Sarah's story" and "Zac's story" was made up.

There was even one for Mozzer himself.

The Huffington Post UK wrote last month about how the group had written a string of Mozza/IDS hybrid tunes, including ‘This Balanced Plan’, ‘How Soon is NWO’ and ‘Big South Strikes Again’.

The band's 10 songs can be heard here and other working titles include 'Priti Patel Makes Graves' and 'Suffer Little Poor Children'.

The Iain Duncan Smiths' first ever live show will take place at The Good Ship in Kilburn, north west London, on September 18.

Here are the lyrics in full to What Difference Does It Make (If All Our Testimonies Are Fake)?:

All departments have scandals and this is ours, or at least one of them

For we have been caught red-handed, and I'm not referring to the blood on our hands

Guess now we start to backtrack, so get the Telegraph on the phone!

They may be fictional claimants, but you're missing the point

So what difference does it make if all our testimonies are fake?

It makes none in the long run, they're for illustrative purposes only

The DWP will find work for idle sods like you

I lie and I lie, and that's fine, because you voted blue

And now you try to make me feel shame, which I've never felt before

So I'll still lie to you, oh ho ho!

So what difference does it make if all our testimonies are fake?

Let bygones be bygones, ‘cause taking the piss won't keep you warm tonight

Oh, the DWP will find work for idle gits like you

I drew up the welfare bill and it got voted through

Now you know there's no Sarah and Zac, you won't see them any more

But I'll still lie to you, oh ho ho!

You'll get no apologies, no no, and I make no apologies, no no

You're scroungers, you're all dirty scroungers, and you're feeling very sick and ill today

But you'll get no sick pay, oh ho ho!
