This iPhone App Takes VHS-Quality Video On A £700 Smartphone

This iPhone App Will Let You Shoot VHS-Quality Video Because Nostalgia OK?

If you haven't seen 'You've Been Framed' then this app is probably going to seem even more pointless than it already is.

Called VHS Camcorder and costing you just £2.99 this handy(?) iPhone app will let you relive those nostalgic winter evenings sat around the TV with your family as you watch last Christmas' utterly spellbinding antics through the Bush VHS player.

It'll even give the option of choosing your own timestamp should you wish to immortalise your digital recreation of a long-dead analogue format.

Unsurprisingly high-nostalgia-low-usefulness app has gone down an absolute storm on Apple's App Store with one earnest reviewer saying:

"The iPhone can do pretty good video, but it can do even better at terrible video. This is what the iPhone camera was made for. Incredible app. You have to see it to believe it."

Strangely however you do see it and yet the belief takes a while to follow on as you hold your £700 piece of state-of-the-art technology.

It's not entirely surprising that it has become so popular though. VHS defined a generation and while it was crappy even when it was popular the format has somehow managed to find an affectionate place in our hearts thanks to 'You've Been Framed' and that Lord Of The Rings needed not one but two VHS tapes that had to be swapped over halfway through.

It's almost as though we like the inconvenience...surely not.
