'Strictly Come Dancing': Jay McGuiness And Peter Andre Wow The Judges... But It Doesn't Look Good For Iwan Thomas And Ola Jordan

Jay McGuiness's Waltz Proves To Be A Surprise Hit On 'Strictly'

Peter Andre proved that he meant business in Saturday’s (3 October) ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and was not letting his place at the top of the leaderboard slip through his fingers.

He and his professional partner, Janette Manrara, earned themselves yet another 30 points for their quickstep in the second live show of the series, which they performed to The Zutons’ hit ‘Valerie’.

With a combined score of 60 points, they’re still the reigning couple of the series so far - but they weren’t the highest scorers on the night.

Jay McGuiness

Surprisingly for everyone, it was Jay McGuiness, formerly of The Wanted, who the judges awarded the most points to, with his waltz to Dee C. Lee’s ‘See The Day’.

It wasn’t just his moves that shocked people, though, as he also hit the dance-floor having ditched his controversial man bun, sporting a new, shorter hairstyle (which, we have to say, was a wise decision on Jay’s part).

Sadly, though, not everyone had such a successful evening.

Olympian Iwan Thomas and his professional partner Ola Jordan - who bookies have already named the favourite to become the first couple to be eliminated from the show - racked up just 13 points for their routine.

Their cha cha cha to LMFAO’s hit ‘Sexy And I Know It’ definitely had people talking on social media, but sadly it was more to do with the shirt-rip at the beginning of the routine and the *ahem* interesting break-dancing moves in the middle for the actual quality of their ballroom skills.

Last week’s lowest-scorer, Carol Kirkwood, showed definite signs of improvement, earning 20 points, compared to last week’s 16, and therefore moving away from her spot at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Tune into ‘Strictly’ on Sunday (4 October), at 7pm on BBC One, to find out which of the couples will be the first to leave the dance-floor permanently.
