Teen Cheerleaders Barred From Wearing Breast Cancer Uniforms

High school cheerleaders in Tampa, Florida, wanted to wear pink in support of breast cancer, but were told their pink uniforms were against school policy - even though they had worn them the previous year.

A district spokesperson said they shouldn't have worn them last year either and that the Tampa Bay Tech cheerleading squad didn't get approval to wear the uniforms.

"You can have pink shoes, pink socks, pink headband, pink bows, pink wristbands, gloves," a spokeswoman for Hillsborough County Public Schools said.

She added: "We don't wanna have the haves and the have nots. We want to make sure all our students have the same ability to go out on the field, look about the same and be able to play and have the same means."
