Thirteen people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a smoking shelter outside a nightclub.
Police and paramedics responded to the collision involving an Audi A4 outside Streets Nightclub, in John Street, Porthcawl, at around 1am.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving, while an 18-year-old woman is helping South Wales Police with the investigation. Both have been taken to Bridgend police station.
Paramedics took 10 people, aged between 17 and 43, to hospital for treatment for leg injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, while three others also attended an emergency department.
Superintendent Andy Valentine said: "This was declared a major incident by the police and ambulance services. All three emergency services were deployed to the incident and work seamlessly to provide a fast and efficient response.
"All of the victims, eight male and five female, are now being treated in hospital for their injuries."
Nick Smith, assistant director of operations from the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "The injuries were all to lower limbs with no one reported in a life threatening condition."
South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses who saw the manner in which the car, a white S-registered Audi A4, was being driven before the incident to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 and quote incident number 151.
