'X Factor' Ratings: 'Strictly Come Dancing' Thrashes Simon Cowell's Show In Ratings War

'Strictly' Thrashes 'X Factor' In Ratings War

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘X Factor’ went to battle in the first proper head-to-head ratings war this weekend, and while the newly-revealed figures will delight BBC bosses, Simon Cowell probably won’t be too happy.

On Saturday night, ‘Strictly’ triumphed over ‘X Factor’, with almost three million more people tuning in to see Jay McGuiness and co. shimmying across the dancefloor.

Jay and Aliona Vilani have been a huge hit with viewers

On average, 9.32 million people tuned in to watch the BBC One show, according to figures from Barb, while 6.35 million saw Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell make their judges’ houses decisions.

The ‘X Factor’ ratings did receive a tiny boost, when 325k people saw the show on +1, but they’re nowhere near close to toppling ‘Strictly’ in the popularity stakes.

4th Impact were granted a place in the live shows

‘Strictly’ will continue this weekend with its annual Halloween special, clashing with the first live show of the current ‘X Factor’ series.

Sadly, the fact the live shows are starting so late this year is likely to mean the ITV show’s contestants won’t be giving spooky performances. Quite frankly, we’ll be missing out.
