Norwegian singer Aurora will provide the soundtrack to this year’s campaign, according to The Sun.

Aurora will sing on the John Lewis Christmas ad

As previously reported, she will be singing a cover of Oasis classic ‘Half The World Away’, which is also remembered as the theme tune to BBC sitcom ‘The Royle Family’.

Bosses apparently played with the idea of re-recording Steve Winwood’s ‘Higher Love’ but eventually plumped for the Oasis track.

“There have been lots of options and the process has been kept top secret.

“But even though Aurora is a complete unknown, they felt her quirky voice is perfect for the song.”

Aurora, 19, got her break in Norway when a friend uploaded one of her songs online, and she soon landed a recording contract.

While she’s even yet to release her debut album on her home country, Katy Perry is among her celebrity fans, and she’s also been mooted as ‘one to watch’ by Radio 1, The Independent and The Guardian.

Last year’s ad, which featured Monty The Penguin, saw Tom Odell singing ‘Real Love’, while other stars who have previously recorded the ad have included Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen and Gabrielle Aplin.

A mysterious teaser with the hashtag #OnTheMoon aired on Sunday night during ‘The X Factor’, with many fans believing that it was for the John Lewis Christmas campaign.

The commercial will be unveiled in full online at 8am on Friday (6 November), and will receive its first play on TV later that evening.
