Fallout 4 is, we think it's probably fair to say, one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, if not the decade.
It's the sequel to a video game series that has garnered an almost religious following of fans happy to sink countless hours of their life into a post-apocalyptic wasteland where every bullet is a commodity and every scrap of junk is potentially life-saving.
The game's release date was 10 November, which means that it has been out for less than 48 hours (at time of writing), so just how many hours do you think people have sunk into the game already?
100s? 1000s? Or more realistically how about 100,000s?
Try 4.5 million.
And that's just the people playing on PC. It doesn't even begin to take into account the number of hours that have been spent playing it on PS4 or Xbox One.
According to IGN, Steam's open source code allows developers and members of the public to track how many people are playing a game on PC at any one time and indeed how many hours have been sunk into the game in total.
Well when IGN took a look at the stats what they found kind of blew them away. 400,000 people were playing Fallout 4 at any one time on PC and in total, PC players had spent 4.5 million hours playing the game.
To try and put that into some meaningful perspective, that's over 500 years of gameplay. Well, 513 if we're being pedantic.
In case you're wondering, reviews for Fallout 4 have actually been remarkably mixed. While the overall verdict by gaming writers was hugely positive, the game has been plagued by some highly comical bugs which appear to be causing both humour and frustration to gamers in equal measure.
