Detectives Searching For Missing Teen Find A Body In Leicestershire Field

Detectives searching for missing teenager Kayleigh Haywood revealed they had found a body on Wednesday. Leicestershire Police said they made the discovery in a field in Ibstock. Haywood, 15, from Measham, went missing last Friday evening after she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College, her former school.

The body was found around 10pm on Wednesday, with police confirming the discovery several hours later. A formal identification has yet to take place. Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested on Monday and are being question on suspicion of murder. Magistrates granted officers a further 36 hours to hold and question the pair.

Kaleigh Haywood was last seen on Friday

"Kayleigh's family are aware of the discovery and inquiries are continuing," said Chief Superintendent David Sandall. Police launched a murder investigation after finding Haywood’s mobile phone and belongings.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Kayleigh's parents Stephanie Haywood and Martin Whitby said her disappearance was "breaking their hearts." It read: "We love Kayleigh so much and without her our family is incomplete. A big part of our lives has gone."

According to Haywood's friends, the teenager may have met a man online.
