More than a thousand protesters flocked to Central London on Tuesday evening, braving the iced November air to urge MPs to vote against extending British military intervention against the Islamic State into Syria. Their voices will likely go unheard, Prime Minister David Cameron confident of securing enough cross-party support to win Wednesday's controversial vote in the Commons. Still, they came, carrying placards and banners, chanting, speaking, demanding the government not indulge its militaristic urge and remain apart from a civil war that has raged for five years, drawing a host of international actors into the bloody maelstrom.
