According to The Sun, they stole valuable jewellery and cash, after finding the key to a safe.

Simon, his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and baby son Eric were all in the house at the time, and his bodyguard was alerted to the break in, after an alarm was activated at 2.20am. However, it is unknown how they gained access to the property.

A source told the paper that the value of what was taken was “well into six figures”, explaining: “Unfortunately security was anything but safe. The burglar found the key and ‘bingo,’ he was in.

“Some of the gems were sentimental and there was some cash in the safe.”

Simon is now said to be reviewing security at his home, with a friend close to the star saying that he has been left “really badly shaken” by the incident.

“He likes to live as normal a life as possible and doesn’t want his house to be like Fort Knox, but his family need to feel safe in their own home.” they added.

“Officers attended the scene but the suspect had left the area.”
