Britons have taken to Twitter to show their contempt for the suspected Tube station terror attacker – sending the hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv trending.
A man wielding a knife stabbed three people before reportedly saying "This is for Syria" during the attack at the east London station on Saturday night.
A shocking video of the aftermath of the attack shows the man pinned to floor after being Tasered by police as a bystander shouts to him: "You ain't no Muslim bruv."
The phrase has been widely picked up by social media users who say it is the perfect riposte to attempts to spread violence and terror in London – disowning and sidelining the attacker.
The hashtag is trending on Twitter.
One user called Muthla wrote: "Best # trend I've seen- #YouAintNoMuslimBruv regarding horrific attack in Leytonstone. Gotta love London for the # trend!"
Another called Jackie Nn wrote: "#youaintnomuslimbruv- soo proud to be a Londoner. True Muslims don't try and kill innocent bystanders. Peace to true Muslims."
Chris Lowndes wrote: "#YouAintNoMuslimBruv is just perfect - real, inclusive, undermines terrorist cause."
