Fans of the BBC soap already know that Charlie Slater will be paying a visit to Kat and Alfie over Christmas, and it’s now been confirmed that Glynis Barber is to return to Albert Square as Glenda Mitchell this New Year.

As is always the case with ‘EastEnders’, bosses are keeping tight-lipped about what’s behind her arrival, instead insisting that viewers wait and see what’s prompted her to come back to Walford.

Glenda Mitchell is ba-ack!

However, given that it’s the Christmas season on ‘EastEnders’, you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s not exactly going to be for a good old-fashioned knees-up, and there’s going to be plenty of Yuletide drama (frankly, we wouldn’t have it any other way).

By the time she returns, it will have almost been five years since the character was last seen on screen, having left the soap in 2011, after being prompted to leave when Shirley Carter found out about her affair with Phil Mitchell.

Glenda’s daughters, Roxie and Ronnie are currently embroiled in a bitter family feud, but as things take an even more drastic turn, could it be she’s back to play referee? We’ll have to wait and see…

The ‘EastEnders’ Christmas action doesn’t stop there, though, and bosses have got plenty to get viewers hooked this festive season, including an eventful wedding and more bad behaviour from Bobby Beale, which you can read more about here.
