‘Coronation Street’ bosses are planning to air a new drugs storyline in February, according to reports.

Sources have revealed that Izzy Armstrong will be seen turning to cannabis, when her medication fails to provide suitable pain relief.

Cherylee as Izzy

It’s believed that Izzy will confide in Erica about her difficulties, and Claire King’s character will then suggest that she tries smoking marijuana, before adding that she knows where to purchase some.

“Izzy wouldn't have turned to drugs if she wasn't in a lot more pain, it is a last resort.

“This is a big new storyline and Cherylee [Houston] is excited by the new twist for her character.

“She has begun work on the scenes and they are expected to go out in February.”

It’s all change for ‘Corrie’ in the new year, as current executive producer Stuart Blackburn is set to step aside, making way for ‘Emmerdale’ boss Kate Oates to take over.

Before he departs, Stuart will deliver one, final Weatherfield Christmas, and he’s previously promised that it’ll be a happy one.
