‘The Sound Of Music Live’ almost went off without a hitch on Sunday (20 December) night - that was apart from one of the production’s youngest stars slipping over on stage.
The ambitious ITV production, starring Kara Tointon as Maria Rainer, suffered only one minor slip up when the four-year-old playing Marta Von Trapp hit the deck during a scene.
She could be seen running around Maria with the rest of the Von Trapp children when she tripped over.
But viewers may have been forgiven for believing it happened on purpose, when Kara tried to expertly cover it up, by asking: “Oh Martha, are you alright?”
Twitter was awash with people chuckling at the unfortunate mishap:
OMG, I feel so bad but I'm in hysterics after the little girl falling over in The Sound Of Music Live 😂— Melissa Webb (@MelissaWebb2109) December 20, 2015
Best thing about the Sound of Music Live is reading all the tweets about Marta falling over— Jo Leslie (@joleslie) December 20, 2015

…I’m not going to lie, Marta falling over in #SoundOfMusicLive is rather amusing, but Kara Tointon was wonderful improv’ing round it.— Jack Gordon (@MoreToJack) December 21, 2015
The Von Trapp child falling over has been rewound 5 times so far #SoundOfMusicLive— Katherine Glyde (@Katherine_Glyde) December 20, 2015
Viewers, including many celebrity fans, also lauded the production, after the cast made no mistakes during the entire two-and-a-half hour show:
#SoundofMusicLive is excellent. Easy to forget it's live (it's so well done). And the use of 1938 news reel footage is a nice touch.— richard bacon (@richardpbacon) December 20, 2015
