How To Wrap Presents Perfectly Using Science

Science Has Found A Way To Avoid Christmas Wrapping Anxiety

If you hate wrapping presents, help is at hand this year.

Mathematician Katie Steckles posted a video on YouTube explaining how to go about the painful task of making your gifts look pretty, using a few simple mathematical equations.

Writing on Twitter about her Christmas message, she said: "...I'm mainly just being nerdy about 3D shapes and paper."

It takes Steckles just under five minutes to explain how to get around wrapping a variety of shapes, including objects that don't necessarily have perfect symmetry.

For example, if you're planning on giving someone a tube of Jaffa Cakes (let's assume you don't like them that much), Steckles says you can use the equation for finding the circumference of a circle - pie multiplied by the diameter - to measure how much wrapping paper you need.

Happy wrapping!
