New reports suggest that bosses have told Daniel that, should he wish to stay on as 007, the next two ‘Bond’ films could be recorded at the same, allowing him to spend more time with his family.

Reports that the upcoming 25th and 26th ‘Bond’ films could be recorded at the same time come after Daniel's suggestion that ‘Spectre’ could be his last outing as the MI5 agent.

After suggesting he’d rather “slit his wrists” than continue as James Bond back in October, he added: “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.

“For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it ... If I did another 'Bond' movie, it would only be for the money.”

The most recent ‘Bond’ outing, ‘Spectre’, was Daniel’s fourth as James Bond, and his predecessor Pierce Brosnan also stepped down after his fourth turn in the role.

Actors who have been tipped to take over as 007 in the future include Idris Elba and Damien Lewis.
