Think you're a bit of a pro in the dental floss department? Think again.
Many people drag their floss up and down between their teeth which can lead to aggravated gums.
According to the BuzzFeed video above you should be gliding the floss gently along the two sides of each tooth to remove plaque and keep teeth and gums happy and healthy instead.
The video also offers a fascinating insight into what else goes on in your mouth and highlights the importance of brushing regularly and maintaining good dental hygiene.
Did you know that saliva helps keep your mouth clean, so if your mouth is dry it will fill up with bacteria?
Additionally, plaque builds up on your teeth all the time, even at night when you're asleep, which is why it's important to clean teeth twice a day.
And if you don't keep your teeth clean it can lead to gum disease, which is painful and can lead to the loss of bones and tissues that support your teeth.
Conversely, don't brush too hard either as this can lead to your gum line receeding.
