The Division: Explore Video Game's Scarily Realistic Vision Of New York City

These Pictures Show How Scarily Lifelike Video Games Have Become

The Division is set to be one of the most hotly-anticipated games of 2016.

The game's ambitious vision places a player (along with up to four teammates) inside a post-apocalypse New York.

Players will then have to restore law and order to the city after a terror attack saw the city's population devastated by a smallpox outbreak.

Using environmental simulators the developers were able to accurately create a timeline of how civilisation would crumble, firstly in a city and then in the rest of the USA, after such an attack.

Using these apocalyptic simulators the developers then created a street-for-street recreation of Midtown Manhattan, right down to the way the traffic would disintegrate to the huge build up of waste.

To make matters even more apocalyptic the developers recreated some of New York's most iconic landmarks and then envisioned them as you've never seen before.

Here's how New York would look like after a major biological attack:

Times Square

Madison Square Garden

Grand Central Station

The Flatiron Building
