Friends Who Won 66 Million Euro In Syndicate Choose To Keep Their Names Secret

A group of Irish friends who won 66 million euro on the EuroMillions are to keep their identities secret.

The syndicate collected their massive jackpot in Dublin - the fourth highest payout for the draw in Ireland - after almost two weeks of speculation over who they are and where they are.

The lucky group won the prize after buying a 15 euro Quick Pick ticket on Wednesday January 27 for the draw on the following Friday.

They halved a 132m euro jackpot with a winner in France.

The man who bought the ticket said they want to keep the win private.

"This is by any standards, enormous good fortune," he said.

"We are completely dumbstruck to have won this fantastic prize.

"The ads are true; it is riches beyond your wildest dreams, even when it's shared by a group like this.

"It's a life changing amount of money for each of us, and we realise how lucky we are to share in a EuroMillions jackpot of this size."

The win ranks as the fourth highest EuroMillions jackpot to be picked up in Ireland after 115m euro by Dolores McNamara in Limerick in August, 94m euro by someone who bought a ticket in north Dublin and 87m by a syndicate who bought a ticket in Ballybrack, Dublin.
