Michael Crawford is about to dust off his beret and get back into character as Frank Spencer, almost 40 years after the last episode of ‘Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em’ aired on the BBC.
The comic character is to make a one-off return to our screens next month, for a special sketch as part of this year’s ‘Sport Relief’ telethon.
Michele Dotrice will also be back as Frank’s long-suffering wife Betty, for a new adventure that will involve Olympic cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins.

So far, little is known about what the sketch will entail, but it’s probably a safe bet that some sort of speedy caper involving a bicycle is imminent.
The last time we saw Frank Spencer was on Christmas Day in 1979. Speaking about reprising the character, Michael said: “I am thrilled and delighted to have been asked to bring Frank back.
Sir Bradley also expressed his excitement about taking part in the special, claiming: “I am a huge fan of Michael so it's an absolute honour to be asked to be involved alongside such an icon of British television... and all for a great cause.”
This year’s ‘Sport Relief’ festivities kick off on 18 March at 7pm on BBC One.
This year will also see Eddie Izzard running 27 marathons in 27 days, while various celebrities have been taking part in a star-studded series of ‘Great British Bake Off’, including former Spice Girl Geri Horner, who raised eyebrows among viewers with her unusual accent in this week’s episode.
