A baby's body has been found on a footpath in a village near Oxford.
The child was found by a member of the public on the path in Marston at around 9.20am on Monday, and police are treating the death as unexplained.
Officers are trying to trace the baby's mother, who they have urged to come forward.
Detective Inspector Jim Holmes from Thames Valley Police said: "This investigation is in its very early stages and officers are working to trace the mother of the child as she may require urgent medical attention.
"If you are the mother of the baby, please come forward so that we can ensure any appropriate help needed can be provided. Likewise if you are a friend or family member of the mother, please come forward so we can check on her welfare.
"The death is being treated as unexplained at this time."
