Unbelievable Jeff! Soccer Saturday's Stelling Completes Charity Walk

Presenter Jeff Stelling has walked 10 marathons in 10 days raising hundreds and thousands of pounds for charity.

The face of Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports covered 260 miles between the football ground of his beloved Hartlepool United and Wembley Stadium in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

He said that if his team could not make it to the heart of English football season, at least he had succeeded in doing so.

Asked what he was most looking forward to now the challenge was over, Mr Stelling said: "A hot bath, putting my feet up and not walking any further."

The presenter joked that when somebody asked him whether he would be doing any more marathons, he replied: "You must be kidding. We are doing 10, I won't be doing any more."

He continued: "At the moment I am even concerned about taking my dogs out walking."

Mr Stelling described the support he received from the public and sports stars, including Sir Ian Botham and Les Ferdinand, as "fantastic".

"When we started this, this was about raising awareness. We have now raised close to £300,000 and we will inevitably top just that in terms of funds raised."

But Mr Stelling admitted that at the start of the challenge he was not sure which way it would go.

He said: "It is a massive accomplishment. But if someone had told me, any time after the first four days, that I would make it, it wouldn't have believed them.

"It has gotten progressively easier, rather than harder."

Fellow Sky Sports football pundits Chris Kamara and Charlie Nicholas joined Mr Stelling on previous legs of the journey that saw them walk from Hartlepool to Marske, York to Leeds and Doncaster to Scunthorpe.

The remaining seven days saw him visiting clubs in Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham and London.

The money will go to fund research to improve diagnosis of the disease.
