Nude Donald Trump Artwork To Be Exhibited In London

A controversial artwork of Donald Trump that is censored in the United States will be exhibited for the first time in a London gallery.

The illustration from artist Illma Gore portrays Republican candidate Mr Trump in the nude.

It will be exhibited at London's Maddox gallery and is priced at £1 million.

The piece from Los-Angeles based Gore has been censored and banned from public display in the United States.

The 24-year-old has also parodied Mr Trump's campaign slogan, titling her piece Make America Great Again.

She said: "Make America Great Again was created to evoke a reaction from its audience, good or bad, about the significance we place on our physical selves."

Since releasing the piece a few weeks ago, Gore estimates she has received "1,000 death threats from Trump supporters".

"I drew Trump nude, I was evoking a reaction from people ... so I tried not to think about it until I spoke to a lawyer who suggested I go to the police about it and file a report in case something happens," she told the Press Association.

After posting it on a social media site she received confirmation that someone had filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice against her, whereby content can be taken offline if someone claims the content uploaded infringes on their copyright.

Due to the nature of the image, it has been removed from many websites and as a result, Gore has limited access to various social media sites.

Asked why London was a good fit to show her work, she said: "It seems like the United Kingdom has such an appreciation for art and is far removed enough to see the idea behind it."

The Maddox gallery's director, James Nicholls, said that while the piece was "contentious and interesting", there is "a lot of interest and debate around it".

He added: "Some may be offended, but others will see the humour in Gore's work. Maddox Gallery is giving London the chance to view the original artwork and make up their own minds."

Gore's art will go on display at Mayfair's Maddox Gallery on April 8.
