Man Jailed And Banned For Being 100 Times Over Drug-Drive Limit

A man has been caught behind the wheel while more than 100 times over the drug-drive limit.

Gintars Garkajs, 30, was pulled over by Cambridgeshire Police while he was driving his Audi A6 in Peterborough.

Tests found he was 100 times over the limit for MDMA or ecstasy and more than 10 times over set limits for cocaine. Amphetamine was also found in his system, the force said.

Sergeant Ian Manley said: "Driving under the influence of drugs is completely unacceptable.

"By doing so you significantly increase the chance of being involved in a serious, even fatal collision.

"It's simple - if you've consumed drugs, don't risk driving."

Garkajs, of Earl Street, Wisbech, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates' Court earlier this month and pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.

He was jailed for 18 weeks and banned from driving for five years, Cambridgeshire Police said.

He was caught as part of a two-month campaign in the county in which 18 motorists tested positive for drugs.
