Busted have unveiled their first new track in over a decade, ahead of their ‘Pigs Can Fly’ world tour.
All three original members of the group co-wrote their latest offering, ‘Coming Home’, which they unveiled for free on Tuesday (3 May).
Singer James Bourne says of the track, which has been compared online to MGMT and Temper Trap: “After 12 long years it feels great to say, here is a brand new Busted song! We wanted to give this away free to the fans as a gift for supporting us all these years. We can't wait to play it live in the arenas and hear them singing along.”
During their time in the spotlight, Busted had four number one singles here in the UK, before ultimately splitting in 2004.
A decade later, Matt Willis and James Bourne joined forces with McFly to form the super-group McBusted, though Charlie Simpson had initially said he would never reform the group, until the news was confirmed in late 2015 that all three members were getting back together for an arena tour, as well as a new album, which is set be released later this year.
Explaining his decision to reunite with his former bandmates, Charlie explained at the time: "A year ago James and I got together and just started hanging out… and it felt really different, somehow, to how it had ten years ago. And the idea crept into my head after all that time apart: what would Busted look like today?"
