Ipswich Woman Bailed After Arrest On Suspicion Of Assisting Suicide

A woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting a suicide after the death of a man who was taken ill on a beach, has been released on bail.

Essex Police were called to the scene in St Osyth at 5.40am on Friday by paramedics reporting a man and woman in need of medical assistance.

They were both taken to hospital where the 51-year-old man later died. A post-mortem examination gave his cause of death as drowning.

A 40-year-old woman from Ipswich, not Colchester as police previously said, was arrested on suspicion of assisting suicide. She was released on bail until June 26, pending further enquiries.
