‘Marcella’ came to a crashing finale this week, with the discovery of the serial killer that had been plaguing Anna Friel and co.
Despite the gruesome central plotline, many of the scenes were stolen by the charismatic Nicholas Pinnock, as Marcella’s estranged - sort of - husband Jason.
Who is this enigmatic actor who’s been thrilling us for the past six weeks? Without further ado, here are 9 facts in 90 seconds…

Nicholas Pinnock was born in Balham, south London in 1973. He went to stage school and made his acting debut aged 12. He joined a host of other British actors, making appearances in 'The Bill' and 'Casualty'. One of his early roles was in 'Grange Hill'. Here he is, reunited with old castmate Ches Martinez.

In 2015 Pinnock took the role of Frank Sutter in 'Fortitude' on Sky Atlantic. There will be a second series, but Nicholas has hinted he won't be appearing.

His role of Marcella's estranged husband Jason has brought him to a larger TV audience. He's revealed that Series 2 could be on the way, although whether he'll be in, having just survived Series 1, is yet to be revealed.

Nicholas says his 'Marcella' co-star Anna Friel is "a real sweetie" but the programme makers don't let them know what's going on, so they're guessing as much as viewers how things will pan out.

He played Jay 'The Sport' Jackson at the Bush Theatre in London, starring in The Royale. The play opened to rave reviews in November 2015, and will be reprised at The Tabernacle later this year.

In 2011, the same year he appeared in the blockbuster 'Captain America: The First Avenger', Nicholas appeared as Leon in a four-part award winning drama 'Top Boy', which was broadcast on Channel 4 over four consecutive nights in October.

Nicholas has been open about his own experiences of depression, and works alongside mental health charity Mind UK, to raise awareness and support. He's put together a book of poetry and writings, including his thoughts on the stigma surrounding mental health.

His new book of poetry will be accompanied by a series of three poetry short films, which he'll direct as well, with his co-director Gary Wallis, through his own production company, Big Smile Pictures.

He is one of the few people not to have watched the ITV crime drama, saying he can't bear to watch himself on TV. "I’m more about the process than the product,” he explained on ITV’s This Morning. “Watching myself I find really odd."
