Jury To Decide In Trial Of Model Who Killed UK Millionaire In Spain

A jury is set to decide whether a Slovakian model who shot a British millionaire twice in the head is guilty of his murder.

Mayka Kukucova, 26, has been on trial at the Ciudad de la Justicia in the Spanish city of Malaga this week, over the killing of her ex-boyfriend, Andrew Bush, at his home on the Costa del Sol.

She has said she had "never meant to hurt" the former jewellery store owner, and broke down in tears when photos of his wounded body were shown in court.

The court heard that there had been a violent struggle moments before Mr Bush's death, after he had returned home unexpectedly from a trip to the UK while Kukucova was in the house collecting her things. She had allegedly been staying in the house for at least two days.

Kukucova said "shots were fired" during the fight but denies murder. A jury will decide on Friday if evidence from the night of April 4 2014 shows that Kukucova murdered her ex-boyfriend, or killed him in self-defence.

Mr Bush, 48, was well known in his home city of Bristol for his jewellery business and was previously married to former BBC Bristol presenter Sam Mason - mother of his daughter Ellie, 21.

He met Kukucova when she worked in his shop and the pair were together for two-and-a-half years, she has told the court. The relationship broke down around six months before Mr Bush was killed.

Mr Bush was known for having a keen interest in cars, and it was in his Hummer that Kukucova is reported to have made a getaway on the night he died.

Days later she handed herself to Slovakian authorities and was detained before being extradited to Spain.

Kukucova did not enter a formal plea, and prosecutors are seeking a 20-year prison sentence if she is found guilty of murder.
