Coronation Street's David Platt is to be left devastated by the death of his wife Kylie Platt, ITV has said.
Bosses of the long-running soap are keeping the details of how the troubled mother dies under wraps.
Photos from a new promotional trailer show Kylie, played by Paula Lane, packing her belongings into a car.
The mood switches as the vehicle is revealed to be a hearse which is surrounded by her devastated family and friends.
Departing Corrie star Lane spoke with warmth about her exit from the popular soap.
Her final episodes will be broadcast in the week beginning July 11.
She said: "It was very emotional to film the scenes knowing that I would never return and her death has huge consequences for David and all the family."
Lane, 30, announced she was leaving the Weatherfield-set series earlier this year.
During Kylie's six years on the show, she has been at the centre of some high profile storylines.
In 2015, she murdered evil Callum Logan (Sean Ward) to stop him from harming her sister-in-law Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien).
The Platts buried him under their house, but a guilt-ridden Kylie has buckled under the pressure.
With the late Tony Stewart (Terence Maynard) in the frame for Callum's death, David (Jack P Shepherd) believes they are all home and dry.
Kylie remains uncomfortable about letting an innocent dead man take the blame for a crime she committed.
She suggests the family leave Weatherfield once and for all and put the events of the past year behind them.
But their excitement and future plans are cut short by Kylie's unexpected death.
