”Jetman Dubai” pilots Yves Rossy and Vince Refeet set a new record last month when they soared to 17,000 feet (5,200m) over the Costa Brava in their jet-powered wingsuits.

Speaking after the latest successful record attempt, Rossy said: “Setting this new milestone has been very rewarding, not just for the pilots but for the whole team of engineers too.

“Breaking our flight altitude record by climbing up to 5,200m, or 17,000ft, is the first step towards the ambition of reaching new ‘stratospheric’ heights. ”

The pair have gone on to perform a series of incredible stunts and a break a number of records.

Now, photos released by the Jetman team reveal an astonishing flight alongside a commercial aeroplane at 4,000 feet (1,200m).

It’s only 12 years since Rossy became the first person to fly with a jet-propelled wing.

Refeet said: “As a skydiver I’ve always enjoyed going through the clouds, but in free-fall you can only do that once. “With the jetwing you get to fly in multiple directions and you can enter the clouds several times, extending both the experience and the fun.

“Flying in the clouds is beautiful - they provide you with a reference point in the air that makes you feel just how fast you’re flying, which for us is generally 250 km/h.
