Bake Off Star Paul Hollywood Issues Top Gear Race Challenge

Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood has challenged Top Gear presenter Matt LeBlanc to a motor race.

The baker and TV presenter, who is an amateur sports car racing driver in his spare time, wants the Bake Off to take on fellow BBC show Top Gear for charity.

LeBlanc had initially seemed like an odd choice to present the car show, Hollywood said.

He told The Sun: "Matt's a real petrolhead. I didn't realise how much he was into cars. I think he's done really well on Top Gear.

"I was like, 'Really? Matt LeBlanc?' but when I saw him I was like, 'He's good'.

"He knows how to drive a car, I know that much."

He added: "I'm happy to race him if he wants to race me. I'll do that for Children in Need - Bake Off versus Top Gear."

But despite a guest appearance on the revamped Top Gear earlier this year, Hollywood, 50, said he was too busy with the Bake Off to consider stepping into the void left by Chris Evans's departure.

He said: "I like doing my own thing, really. Top Gear is Top Gear, and for me to get involved would be very difficult, as most of my life is taken up with baking."
