A man and woman have appeared in court charged with murder after their baby was found unresponsive on a London bus.
The three-month-old girl was found on the lower deck of the bus in Stratford, east London, at 10.20am on Wednesday and taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination on Friday found she died from head injuries, Scotland Yard said.
Rosalin Baker, 25, and Jeffrey Wiltshire, 52, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of or serious physical harm to a child, and child neglect.
The pair, both of East Ham, east London, were taken to the dock together, each wearing grey jumpers and trousers.
Each spoke only to confirm their names, ages and addresses and they did not enter any pleas before the packed court.
District Judge Gareth Branston remanded the pair in custody and ordered them to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, saying: "This is a case that must go to the Central Criminal Court."
