Roger Daltrey is to receive the 25th Music Industry Trusts Award (Mits) at a gala ceremony tonight, held in aid of Nordoff Robbins and the Brit Trust.
The lead singer of rock band The Who was previously named as the recipient of the accolade this year for his outstanding contribution to the music and entertainment industries, as well as his work with various charities.
Daltrey, 72, follows the likes of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Tom Jones, Jools Holland, Annie Lennox and Simon Cowell in winning the prestigious award.
Of his win, Daltrey said: "It's great to be honoured by my friends and colleagues in the music industry in this way in the 25th year of the Music Industry Trusts Award.
"Nordoff Robbins and the Brit Trust are wonderful charities. The Who were there at the beginning and I am proud to join the honourees that have received this award before me and themselves done so much not only for these charities but also for many others."
David Munns OBE, chairman of the Mits Award committee, said that Daltrey "embodies the ethos of the Mits Award and is a deserving honouree in this milestone year".
He added: "We are proud to recognise not only Roger's musical output, both as a solo performer and as part of The Who, but also his tireless dedication for charitable causes and in particular the Teenage Cancer Trust which has helped thousands of young people throughout the UK and worldwide."
The Mits has so far raised over £5.5 million for the two music-based charitable organisations in its 25 years.
The annual honour was founded to raise money for the nominated charities and to highlight someone who has significantly contributed to the music industry in the UK.
Daltrey will receive his award at the gala ceremony held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
