Ferne McCann Weeps On TV Over 'Surreal' Pregnancy As Ex Faces Acid Attack Charge

TV star Ferne McCann broke down in tears as she said how "stressful and surreal" her pregnancy has been as the father of her unborn child has appeared in court charged in connection with an acid attack at an east London nightclub.

McCann's former boyfriend Arthur Collins is charged with 14 counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent against four men and 10 women, and one count of throwing an acidic liquid with intent to do GBH to multiple people.

The incident on Easter Monday left two revellers partially blinded and others disfigured.

In her first interview since Collins' arrest and the news of her pregnancy broke, McCann told ITV's This Morning: "'This isn't how I expected my first pregnancy to be, but it's not about what happened. It is about this baby."

As she started to cry, she added: "I'm going to be strong, I'm going to try and keep it together... I really don't want to cry. My main concern and priority is the baby.

"It has been such a stressful, surreal situation to be in. But I'm actually feeling good and positive. Because I'm pregnant, I think that has given me strength and hope to get through this."

The reality star confirmed she found out she was pregnant two weeks before the nightclub attack and announced she was expecting earlier than she planned.

She said she was concerned about how the public would react, saying: "I think being in the public eye, that was a concern for me. I thought to myself, are the public going to judge me? Are they going to have an opinion, which they're entitled to... I think that was natural feelings to have.

"However, I actually didn't need to worry. The public have been so amazing and so supportive and that is what's got me through."

McCann, best-known for her appearances on The Only Way Is Essex and I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, said she has had a difficult start to her pregnancy, saying: "I feel like I've had all of the symptoms!

"It started off with the nausea, crazy headaches that lead to vomiting and then morning sickness. I don't know why they call it morning sickness... I've been sick morning, noon and night! I'm coming out of that stage now and I'm feeling good."

She said she was now focused on becoming a good parent, telling the show: " "I love a challenge, as you know, I think this is going to be the biggest one to date. But I'm so looking forward to it. I can't wait to meet my baby. The future for me, I'm not going to say it's going to be easy, but I'm excited and I just want to be the best possible mum I can be."

Collins and defendant Andre Phoenix, of Clyde Road, Tottenham, will next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on May 22.
