Áine McCarthy

Science communicator for Cancer Research UK and musician.

Dr Áine McCarthy graduated from University College Cork, Ireland with a first class honours degree in genetics then moved to London to take up a Cancer Research UK funded PhD studentship in cancer biology at Barts Cancer Institute. She was awarded her PhD in Haemato-Oncology in 2014 for her thesis entitled “Study of the role of autophagy in human follicular and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma”.

Áine joined the science communications team at Cancer Research UK in 2014 where she works to communicate the Charity’s research to the public.
